 Subject: JACK HANNA TO BE FEATURED SPEAKER AT TUFTS ANIMAL EXPO 2002
 
Jack Hanna, popular host of the hit television series, Jack Hanna's Animal
Adventures, and one of America's most beloved naturalists and adventurers
will be the featured keynote speaker at Tufts Animal Expo 2002.
 
Hanna began to receive national attention after he become the director
of the run-down Columbus Zoo in Columbus, Ohio in 1978.  He not only
transformed the zoo into a model facility, but through his media savvy,
made the Columbus Zoo a household name.  He is a regular guest on shows
like Good Morning America, Larry King Live and The Late Show With David
Letterman.  Other featured speakers at Tufts Animal Expo 2002 include
Dr. Lester Crawford, Dr. Eric Overstrom and Dr. Ray Coopinger.
 
Dr. Crawford will present a program on current topics in Public Health.
He is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and has a PhD in Pharmacology.
His many accomplishments include serving as Executive Director of the
Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges, and serving on the
United Nations World Health Organization Expert Advisory Panel on Food
Safety.
 
Dr. Eric Overstrom, a leader in the field of transgenics and cloning, will
speak on "Genetic Manipulations to Enhance Animal/Human Health" during a
program on Animal Biotechnology.  In conjunction with a US transgenics
corporation, Dr. Overstrom's group produced the world's first cloned
transgenic goats in 1999.
 
Dr. Ray Coppinger, a professor of biology at Hampshire College, will
moderate and speak during a program on Canine Behavioral Genetics
including a session on differences in behavioral and learning abilities
among dog breeds.
 
Tufts Animal Expo's four days of educational programming features a choice
of 64 multi-session educational programs and over 350 hours of continuing
education.  There are programs specific to veterinarians and veterinary
technicians, along with ones geared to groomers, breeders, trainers,
human health professionals and others who work with animals.
 
Tufts Animal Expo 2002 will take place September 12-15 at the Hynes
Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
