Hi Everyone,
I live in South Whitehall Township, near Allentown, Pa. You can all
imagine my horror when I read a local news article that states that my
Township's commissioners have agreed to amend an ordinance that makes it
illegal to own exotic and wild animals in the township. They listed many
animals that include potbellied pigs, constricting snakes, hedgehogs, and
yes, ferrets. I really need some advice from fellow FMLers on how to
proceed with this - should I remain silent so they don't know I have
furkids, should I email the reporter, call the Township office, or try
to contact one of the commissioners? One quote from Richard Farinato,
director of captive wildlife protection at the Humane Society of the
United States stated, "You put a tiny hedgehog in a 3-year-old's hand and
the kid squeezes it, the hedgehog will roll into a ball and prick his
fingers." This is the type of mentality we're dealing with here.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me,
Nancy and her 3 "bad boys"
