Ok, I guess it's time for a long-overdue update on Jasmin. I posted in
February about some little sores on his skin that did not look like mast
cell tumors, and a lot of people e-mailed me. At the time, the vet said
it looked like a bacterial infection causing them to erupt in different
places on him, but we couldn't determine the cause. Antibiotics cleared
it all up, though. Well, a couple of days ago, a new one showed up on
his back.
We live in an area where fleas are almost never a problem, so we only
treat with Advantage when we see one, which is usually only once a year.
About a week ago, we spotted a flea, so everyone got bathed & treated.
We looked, & shortly before the first sores started appearing on him late
last year, we had to treat for fleas. He itches excessively when a flea
gets in until a few days after we treat him. Our vet thinks that he may
be allergic to fleas, & he scratches the bites so much that a staph
infection is setting in.
Has any one ever had something like this happen or heard of it happening?
