Hello,
I have one that has hiccups on occasion in the Book Ferret for Dummies by
Kim Shilling. It states it's a common and harmless fuzzy condition that
results from a spasming of the diaphragm. It also states you can try
giving the ferret a little lick of Ferretone or Nutri-Call. This remey
can sometimes shorten the duration of the hiccuping.
I have not done those as a remedy. Because she is a happy go lucky ferret
all the time. I just talk to her nicely and then attack her. Which makes
her dook and run goofy. It appears to me it goes away. Or takes her mind
or body off it. Then we continue our day being goofy. She gets them a
couple times a month.
I personally feel it is harmless. But, you can always call your vet and
ask what they think.
I hope this can help you in some way. This book I use continuously in
finding out information. It has always been a good source of information
concerning ferrets. I would suggest it to anyone who has a ferret. I
have 12 along with other small animals. But, I will go through this
book over and over again.
Good Luck
Dooks,
Benita and the 12 Circus Monkey's
