I have heard that stores have been made to stop selling pets if the the
Department of Agriculture saw them unfit to maintain animals.  I have not
experienced it first hand.  Usually, once the pet has left the store they
will not pay for anything.  But, there is always a chance.
 
The store that I reported to the DoA sent an inspector by.  I am calling
today to find out the results.  Later that day after I phoned the DoA I
received a call from one of the Head people of the Corporate office that I
had faxed earlier concerning the store and the animals.  There is a great
possibilty that the managers will be fired and I will be offered my job
back.
 
I would think by reporting this to the proper people something would be
done.  They have to pass certain inspections.  Maybe you can take the
medical records of the ferret to the DoA.  Find out who is incharge of
handling abused pets.  File a report.  Find out what information is the
store suppose to have on its pets.  Here in Georgia paperwork is to be
signed after each pet purchase.  I know that has not been done properly in
the store I turned them in for that also.  Let DoA know that they are not
giving you information that you need to assist you and the pet.  If the
store thinks you are going to cause a problem for them they will shut
their mouths.  Pretend they don't know what you are talking about.  Each
shipment comes in with paper work.  They are not giving it to you for fear
you may contact the supplier.  Have someone they have not seen.  Go in and
ask friendly questions about ferrets.  Where do they come?  What do they
eat ?  Hey, where do you guys get your ferrets from?  I am interested in
getting one.  Do you have any additional information on them?  Is there a
website I can find out about the ferrets you get in?  This may get you the
information needed to fry their butts.
 
Maybe this can help you on your quest.  Don't stop.  Be tactful and smile
even when you are mad.  People are use to shutting out angry people
because they get all the time.  People will help friendly, tactful people
because that is different and they are willing to listen and help.
