The AMC is expensive but the vets there are among the world's very best
exotic vets; they train other vets to become exotics specialists.
[Moderator's rant: However, if you arrive without an appointment, you'll
not be seen by an exotics specialist but by an intern. The intern should
refer you the specialist if need be, though the specialists are not there
24 hours x 7 days. The specialists are VERY good if they are available
and if you are able to pay for them. The facilities are very good if you
are able to pay for them. The procedures (e.g. two staff vets supervise
each surgical procedure, intensive care is always staffed, blood donor
ferrets live on premesis etc.) are very good if you are able to pay for
them. BUT be SURE to bring LOTS of cash or a credit card or you'll be
asked to leave with your ferreta and such request to leave will not be
kind. (The vets DO care -- but they don't deal with money.) So, get the
impression yet that money is VERY important here? Good. Don't you forget
that... not that the AMC will let you forget it anyhow. BIG]
