You may be right, perhaps that is what he meant. I see how it could be
interpreted that he meant the moment of the BOMBING and not the moment of
seeing the EAGLE was disgusting to him.
I can't tolerate unpatriotic statements from anyone right now, my emotions
are still too raw after the attacks, with such a huge loss of life and
all the devastation. In 1993 I had gotten off the PATH train at the WTC
station just before that bombing, and this recent attack hit too close to
home for me too (as I know it did for many, many people). Prior to Sept
11th, I would not have been so sensitive about an unpatriotic remark
(wouldn't like it, but wouldn't let it get to me either). There is a
great upswelling of patriotism in this country after the attacks, which
I see as a very good thing! It is helping us all pull together and get
through this trying time.
BIG and a few others also interpreted Stan's words the way you did. There
is a built-in disadvantage in communication via email between strangers;
we don't know each other's true feelings and have only written words to
interpret, and they are sometimes ambiguous. So, Stan, if I misunderstood
your meaning, I do apologize.
Nancy
