Chris, anonymous please.

The California Domestic Ferret Association has sued the
state Department of Fish & Game in an effort to get a judge
to declare that ferrets are a domestic species and therefore
cannot be regulated by that department. Bill Phillips, a
California attorney and the executive director of the
association, is leading the fight. But legal challenges are
costly, so those California readers who are not members of
CDFA should join to help pay for the fight. Additional
contributions are also accepted. And if you don't live in
California, this fight is important to ferret owners everywhere,
so give if you can! CDFA's address is P.O. Box 1868, Healdsburg,
CA, 95448.

On a lighter note, here's a little ditty I've written, to be
sung to the tune of "The Beverly Hillbillies."

This is the story
Of a ferret named Mitts.
The way she'd act,
You'd think she was a kit.

Then one day, she was snarfing
Down some food,
When out of their box
Came her ol' buddy, Rupe

Murdoch, that is... fisher king ... bopping pal

Well, next thing you know,
That Mitts licked Rupert's ear.
And Rupert cried out,
"Now, Mitts get out of here!"

But Mitts knew how
To make old Rupert mad,
So off they ran
To tussle in a bag.

... and on the couch, under the desk, in a tube, on the bed...
