Ever since we first got Jasmin, (about 1/2 a year ago), we have
occasionally noticed little 'spots' on him. They look like very small
(about 1/8 of an inch across or less) patches of dried blood. They have
always healed within a couple of days, he doesn't seem bothered by them
(except if you try to look at the spot), and it has always been very
infrequent - once or twice a month we would see a new spot. At first
we thought they got a little too rough while figuring out the
dominance/status thing. Then we started thinking maybe they just played
a little too rough. But it has happened too often lately (several times
this month), and I just found a new spot - on his face. It is a little
more than a quarter of an inch this time, and just around the edges it
looks red & irritated. He still doesn't seem bothered by it though. We
can't figure out any way he could be injuring himself, they do wrestle
alot (like normal ferrets), but they get along well & never fight.
Neither of the other ferrets seem to have this happen. They don't have
fleas, and they are supervised all the time. Has anyone else seen this?
I'm starting to get concerned about it, but I don't know if I am
overreacting or not. I don't know if maybe their play is somehow breaking
his skin (although he doesn't squeal in pain or anything), or if something
could actually be wrong.
