Umm.... sounds like your roomie has inadvertantly "trained" your ferret to
play tag.
 
Many, many, many ferrets are "trained" to bite this way, totally by
accident.
 
The only cure is for your roomie to NOT run when the ferret nips.  She
should scruff, scold, and maybe drag him across the floor by the scruff.
Under NO circustances should she react in such a "ferret play" way as
running, jumping and squealing....
 
This "untraining" can take several weeks.  The key is CONSISTENCY.  The
same consistency she used to train the ferret to play "nip tag".
