Yes! I have seen compulsive grooming I'm convinced was directly related
to my ferret's adrenal disease. Back in May of this year, my 4 year old,
Mitzi, had a slightly swollen vulva. We did the Tennessee Panel, and it
came back with only one level, estradial, slightly elevated, everything
else in normal range. We were told to wait 6 months and retest. We
decided not to and went in and removed an abnormal right adrenal. Thank
goodness, as it was of the malignant variety also, and who knows how big
it would have been in 6 months.
The only outward physical symptoms she showed was the slightly swollen
vulva, but she was also a compulsive groomer! After the surgery, within 6
weeks or so, her vulva shrunk back to normal, and her behavior has also
changed. She no longer absolutely has to clean my ears, arms, legs, and
is happy and as playful as any of my younger ferrets.
Glad we did the surgery when we did!
Tracey
