Hello.

I feel horrible but once again I've decided to give up Garcia. I nearly
gave him to a shelter before because he just refuses to use his litter box
and attacks my other pets to the point where he even draws blood. He is
so sweet to people, and so rotten to other animals. He needs to go to a
shelter because I don't think many normal ferret owners could deal with
him unless they had a lot of time and no other ferrets and pets. The
shelter I got him from seems to have shut down and there aren't any other
shelters near me that seem to be able to take him. The only history I
know of him was that a young boy owned him, got tired or bored with him
and probably never had a litter box in with him. He hardly was let out.
It was a heart breakin story. He lived this way for 3 years and that is
why it's so dififcult to break him of it.

I'm not one of those people that get an animal and get tired of them and
give them up. I have three other ferrets that I'd die for, that I buy
only the best for, keep them up to date with vet checkups, I'm willing to
spend on them to keep them healthy and alive. I miss them when I'm away
from them. THey are always out when I'm home. I'm a ferret nut. I could
own a ton, however, Garcia vexes my husband and I so much. He uses the
bathroom on his own bedding, near his food, near his toys, it doesn't
matter. He hates litter boxes, he hates cages. He is the most wild
ferret I've seen. If he could survive in the wild, he would seem to be
happier their using the restroom anywhere he wants, and out the live long
day. He loves walks on his leash, he loves being brushed after a bath on
your lap. However, we spend several times everyday, scooping up his poop
in all areas of the cage, rewashing bedding, and separating him from the
others which he bites aggressively. This has gone on for over a year now.

If their are any shelters out there that have room for a ferret, that is
possible a permenant shelter ferret, we need you very badly. We live in
Eastern North Carolina and are willing to travel considerbly around the
region, whether it's VA or western North Carolina.

This is so unlike us to have to do this, and it's embarrasing and I'll
live in guilt forever, but I don't want to get to the point where we begin
to detest him. We love him but we are so angry with him all the time.
His disgusting habits are too much for us to deal with. Like I said, he
loves people, and isn't aggressive to people just to other animals.
