I have a 5 month old ferret. I was giving her a calorie rich vitamin
while she was growing. She ended up getting a bit portly, so I stopped
giving it to her about a month and a half ago. She has also had a cough.
She coughs loudly and about once every couple of hours. According to my
ferret bible (Ferrets for Dummies), a weight gain combined with loud
coughs can be a sign of heartworms. She has been on Revolution for the
time that I've had her, but she did have fleas when I got her. And,
according to my vet, heartworms can take 6 months to show up. My other
ferret doesn't have a cough at all. Is my baby just a chunk, or should I
have cause for concern? She is active, but the weight isn't going away.
Please e-mail me with any comments. Thanks!
