Our 2 ferrets had ECE last winter, and they wouldnt have survived without
the support and advice i received from folks on this list.

now we are thinking about adopting another ferret. Looking back at my ECE
notes, I found one that said they continue to shed the virus for 6 months,
one that said for 6-8 months, and one that said if you have had ECE, it's
with you forever - any new ferret you EVER bring in will get it.

Here are my questions for more experienced ferret health folks:

1. Does the "shedding" period mean from the day they got sick or from the
day they seemed recovered? (these are about 3 months apart, so that's a
significant question)

2. If they got sick January 1 and were recovered by the end of March,
when do YOU think it would be safe to bring i n a new ferrett?

thnx for sharing your experience!
