I'm going to give my opinion of this situation since I have seen many
conflicting stories.  I think that before we start jumping in and calling
this a bogus story, her a collector and so on, we need to wait until there
are some newspaper stories or news station stories.  I spoke to Jen for
quite a while on Saturday evening.  I believe her story.  As many of you
know, animal control can be very hard to work with in many areas.  I'm told
that she is a 501-c-3, that is federal, meaning it is not just for Utah.
This can be checked out fairly easy.  I'm also told that she is in the
only county that recognizes ferrets as being legal to have, therefore I
can see how she could be overwhelmed with ferrets.  This does not make
her a collector.  If you are in a county that allows ferrets , but the
surrounding counties do not allow ferrets, then tell me, who do you adopt
to?  Although, the ferrets being surrendered to her, probably come from
the surrounding areas that do not allow ferrets.  Would you adopt to
someone in a county that does not allow ferrets?  Of course not.  There
are already shelters in place that will not adopt to anyone in California
because of the situation there.  You have to think about what might happen
to the ferret if found in a county it should not be in.
 
As far as the story about Jessica or whatever her name is, the Olympic
committee person turning Jen in.  This is a hard one to believe, since the
girl was there with Jen while I talked to her on the phone.  The other girl
was looking up zoning laws on the internet while Jen & I talked.
 
Also, I was told by Jen that she did find an attorney and he is ready ,
willing and able to take the case, because she has a case.  I can tell you,
an attorney will not take a case unless he feels he has one.  They don't
like to lose.
 
All of this has been confirmed, they stormed her house illegally, that's
all there is to it.  What happened is they acted before checking.  They
thought she wasn't a 501-c-3, nor registered with the state.  And she is.
 
And about the smell.  Come on people, ferrets do have an odor, and they can
smell inside, but you aren't going to smell it outside.  Someone wanted to
sell a house next her, it wasn't selling, so they blame it on the shelter
being next door.  That is who made the complaint.  Some of you know how
that can be , don't you?  This is why I moved out in the woods on 5 acres.
I don't have any immediate neighbors.
 
So, I had my say.  I think that we need to refrain from jumping to
conclusions until we hear more from the newspapers or the attorney.  Too
many times stories have gotten out of hand on subjects.  Right now, I
believe her.  Until I read something different in a newspaper or hear
something different from the attorney that she is hiring.
 
My prayers are now directed too anyone who had any loved ones involved in
today's attacks in new York and for all of us as a nation.  I hope there
isn't more coming.  And prayers for my little "Sugar" who I had to help
cross the bridge today.  She is already missed.  She had Insulinoma, I
just hope she is playing and dooking with all of the others and having a
grand ole time. :-)
