In response to the owner of the ferrets who have moved on from the couch
to the underside of the bed -
 
I've done the same thing on the bottom of my bed, chairs and sofa - taken
an inexpensive flat sheet and a million upholstery tacks - fold the sheet
to fit the piece - tack the sheet onto the frame of the furniture - tacks
very close together.
 
On the sofa, I did need to make small holes to screw the bun feet back on.
 
36 ferrets since I started using the sheets - they don't even try anymore.
