Hi, I'm not sure if i am doing this correctly or not, but thought i would
give it a go.
Anyways, i have been owned by ferrets since 1994. My first three baby
girls are now at the Rainbow Bridge, and i now own 4 boys, and 2 more
girls. (Rueben, Cherise, Sampson, Delilah, DarkStar, and Jerry)
Heres the thing....Delilah has been slowly loosing her hair on her tail.
It started falling out like in a perfect straight line. Its not a huge
loss yet, and it has been about a month since i noticed the loss. I check
her tail for more loss at least every other day. Well, while checking her
yesterday, i did notice she has a small patch now bald on her rump, right
where her tail starts. Delilah will be 2 in February. She was adopted
off of one of my vets assistants, and she is also a deaf Blaze/Panda. She
does dig at her self a little here and there, but not so much as on her
tail. She mainly digs on her sides. I have always used the same kind of
laundry detergent when cleaning there bedding. When i took them all for
checkups a few weeks ago, and some needed there shots, i asked my vet if
it was Adrenal Cancer. She said that she didnt think so, that she thought
it was allergies to something, and if the digging got worse, or the hair
loss, to bring her back in for another checkup.
Well, our newest baby DarkStar is due for his distemper shots, so,
Delilah is going for another check up too. I guess what my question
really is, is, If Delilah is loosing her hair to allergies, and not
because of Adrenal, what can be done to help her hair grow back??? She
plays normally, and acts like she feels good. I don't know. I'm just
being a curious mommy. It doesnt look like adrenal to me (yet). Two of
my first ferrets i had, they did have adrenal, so, this does seem a little
different. Delilahs vulva is not swollen either........
Anyways, sorry this is so long.
