My Poncho thinks he is a dog too. He follows me like a dog around the
house, meets me at the door with the dogs and plays with the dog's toys.
I would keep your little one away from the dog food. There is not enough
protein or fat in dog food for ferrets active metabolism. I don't know
why they like it, what they have is far better. Look at people if we could
eat fatty stuff without blimping up we'd go for it in a minute. Anyway, I
don't let my guys eat anything but ferret food, ferretone and Vaseline for
their hairballs. They need all the calories, protein and fat they can get
to keep their weight up because they are so active.
I just put the dog dish up and when the ferts go to bed, I bring out the
dog food. Keeps the dogs from eating too much too, I think Mitzi (the
Shihtzu) is starting to get her waistline back.
Hope that helps.
