Kristen,
Over a year ago, my Farina was having trouble sitting up for treats. She
would try, but could only get her front paws a little way off the floor.
She appeared to be in discomfort. My friend who is a professional massage
therapist (and ferret owner) could feel something out of whack (yes, that's
a technical term ;) ) in Farina's back, so she worked on her, stretching
and massaging her back, for about 5 minutes. That worked like a charm; the
next day Farina was back to normal and could sit up again, and she's been
fine ever since. We assumed that Farina had a vertebra or something out of
place from rough play or a fall. She's the smallest of six (just a little
over a pound), so she gets knocked around a bit.
