Hey Guys!
A friend from another list referred me to this one, and let me tell you how
impressed I am with it! I am so glad there are other ferret fanatics out
there, LOL!
Anyway, I have two fuzzies, Dante and Toby. Dante is a 1 1/2 year old
albino who has been I would say around 80% with his potty. He does always
go in the same place though, one corner in the kitchen and one in the
bathroom, never on any rugs, if he can't make the litter box in his ferret
condo. I've had Dante since he was a kit and I fell in love with him in
the pet store. He's my very first ferret.
I adopted Toby about two weeks ago from a fantastic shelter here in Mass,
so we are all still getting used to each other. He is super sweet and
lots of fun. Toby is about 2 years old and the same size as Dante. Dante
picked Toby out almost immediately (two ferrets that had been introduced
before Toby was, Dante couldn't have been bothered with-Toby and Dante
played constantly in the shelter, much to the amazement of Donna at the
shelter-Toby was selective as to whom he got along with apparently) and
they've been pretty inseperable since. However, Toby has taken to pooping
in the corner by my bedroom door on the carpet (my bedroom is the one place
in my WHOLE APARTMENT they are not allowed). I notice that after Toby does
his business, Dante will take a sniff, go run and poop in the corner on the
rug by the bathroom. Toby WAS potty trained at the shelter. I realize he
is getting used to my place now. The only time Dante hits the rug is after
Toby does it. I've tried moving stuff on top of this section (like a
basket) so Toby will take a hint, I have even put a litter box there
(forgotten it was in the corner in front of the door one morning and
stepped right in it). Have sprayed the corner after each poop with
everything from Ferret Clean to Bitter Apple (I realized this wouldn't
work but was worth a shot) and Febreeze. I realize Dante really trained
me as to where he was gonna poop, but I'm kinda lost as to what to do with
two of them, LOL. Any suggestions?
thanks a bunch guys,
Sue,
Dante ( Ma!Froot Loops! Now! )
Toby (my little Linebacker-Toby thinks he plays for the Patriots and
tackles Dante from behind every chance he gets!)
