hello there,
i have a little girl who is 5.5 years old. about 6 weeks ago, she was in
for a routine exam, and the vet noticed her spleen was enlarged. we took
an x-ray/fecal/urine, and he thought wed wait a month and see, as she was
fine. well, nearly exactly a month later, we went away for 2 days
(sat/sun). our sitter left sun am and we returned around 9pm to find her
unable to move, laying in a urine soaked towel, eyes closed. rushed to
emergency... iv overnight etc etc. our regular vet was away on holiday,
so we went through a week of guessing.
all the vets were great, but the whole thing was scary & frustrating
inasmuch as it represented a great deal of unknowns. my vet came back on
monday and within 5 minutes decided on a splenectomy. since last sunday
i've been feeding her every 4 hrs, and in the last day we upped that to
every 2 hrs. i'm tired and scared abt the operation- she's only .72 kg,
and while the duck soup is making her stronger, i'm so scared abt the
possibilities this operation holds for her. i'm also pretty exhausted,
and surprisingly my support network seems remarkably unconcerned, with
the exception of my dad and significant guy. so sad and alone i'm scared
scared scared and thought maybe here there would be something...
thanks,
linda
