I am well aware that not all of the medical posts will interest everyone.
Some don't care about unusual medical problems which they are unlikely to
encounter while some like to learn more. Others are not interested in
information that has the largest chance of saving new people's ferrets
(adrenal and insulinoma info, for instance). Yet many new people do not
know their ways around either ferrets, or web browsing, or both, so they
have little chance to learn otherwise. This makes occasionally relaying
such information one of the ways to save ferret lives, which is the main
goal of the service.
Personally, I like the way that Bill puts the posts at the very bottom.
Yes, it allows folks to just stop reading when they reach the posts if
they aren't interested, but the flip-side works, too. A kind soul sent a
private post a while back saying that she was trying to intensively learn
and found it convenient to go to the bottom section first, and have heard
over the months from several who copy the list-ends and save the
cross-posts. Whatever one's personal preference, the design Bill developed
allows for ease of use, or for easy skipping as desired. (He's good at
this stuff.)
Meanwhile, I am sharing your public comments that appear on the FML with
the other moderators for us to discuss, and we'll all just see how the
vote goes.
This is a note from me as an individual rather than from the moderators
or from the FHL.
