2002 California Legislation

In addition to new legislation that will be introduced in January and
February, the following bills are being held over (usually because of
opposition). These bills may be amended, heard or dropped.

SB 1093 by Senator K. Maurice Johannessen. Ferrets. Support Provides
$250,000 for an Environmental Impact Report to determine the potential
impact of legalizing ferrets, to be used by the Fish and Game Commission
in determining whether to remove ferrets from the list of prohibited
species. SB 1093 should have a much lower cost study. Any legalizing
should be limited to ferrets already here and prohibit pet store sales.

One more time. An acquaintance of mine's brother is the one sponsoring
the bill...says that there are only 2 people holding it up, actually.
Hopefully California can move into this century with the rest of the
nation.

Mark
