My basic in-clinic protocol is amoxi/biaxin/sucralfate. I will use
metoclopramide if the vomiting will not stop (which I actually suspect
is an indicator of inflammatory bowel disease, underlying the gastric
ulceration). I originally got this protocol from Dr. Dutton in Weare, NH.
He developed this from information in the human field.

I prefer this protocol because the ferrets are much more accepting of the
medicine than the original protocol with flagyl and pepto. Discontinuing
the stress on the ferret has to be part of treatment, and force-feeding
terribly bitter medications doesn't help with that.

I have had some ferrets vomit the sucralfate, at which point I skip it.

This, of course, is another section of the book due for a rewrite ;-)
