Alison,
Your friend is wrong!!! If arsenic WAS in the wood pellets and they were
burned, the arsenic would be released into the air and would be deadly.
Besides ferrets, I am into BBQ using a pellet BBQ, ands if there was
arsenic in the pellets, I would not be typing this message. The pellet
smokers are very popular with the BBQ folks as you set it up to smoke and
do not have to tend a fire for 4-16 hours, just refill the hopper with
pellets, as the auger feeds them into the fire box. Several of the 200+
sanctioned KCBS events were won in 2001 by "pelletheads".
So, we have a diel use for the pellets. You can also purchase pellets in:
hickory, cherry, mesquite, etc. for about $30..00 a 40# bag. Sad to say,
we have not been able to find them in Atlanta, and the shipping would eat
us alive. So... we are adding pecan shells to the pellets for pecan
Chicken, turkey, and pork....
Probably more than anyone wanted to know about pellets!
