Hi all!! Just a small note to say hi and give a quick update. It has
been a slightly busy month which concerns us some considering that January
and Feb. are right around the corner and we expect a lot of "christmas"
gifts to be surrendered. We currently have 18 in the shelter... certainly
not a huge number comparitively speaking, but most of those came in this
month.. We had a tiny albino male come in that was found in someone's
yard. This guy's leg had been broken a long time. We had to amputate it.
Boy, he recovered quick and is doing great! Our vice president adopted
him. It was a great feeling to know that this poor little guy had been
through so much in such a short time and we were able to help him out and
give him a shot at an excellant life! It's never all easy, and we did
have our first loss this month, however it's the "ups" that keep us (and
every shelter I'm sure) going.
For those of you in the central Florida area, there is the annual pet fair
at Loch haven Park this weekend. We will be there, in the adoption tent,
handing out flyers and info. Stop by and say hi, we'd love to see your
support!
On a persoanl note, I agree that one of the best things you can do for
your ferrets is to get some sort of "squeeky toy" that they come running
to. Years ago, our Houdini (appropriately named!!LOL) escaped. I walked
around the entire apartment complex squeeking that toy. My neighbors
thought I was nuts, but eventually, Houdini came running out. It was in
the middle of the night, so I would not have been able to find him by
sight. I have always been thankful for the squuek toy!!.
Take care everyone out there!!
