My ferret would hack and then vomit a little.  She would lay down and
look very sick I almost thought she was going to die.  I took her to a
vet and they did x-rays and told me she had a lot of gas in her stomach
and intestines.  They gave her an antibodic and told me to ive her some
pepto-bismol.  She is been fine since.  They also suggested to start her
and my other ferret on some furball stuff.
