I am in real need of some help. We have had our newest, B'Elanna, for
a little over two weeks. She's about 16 weeks old now. We have four
others -- one two 1/2 year old boy, Carter, two 5 year old girls, Xena and
Gabrielle, and a 7 year old girl, Squirt. Well, they HATE her. I expected
it from Gab, since she is the leader of the "mob." But Squirt is also now
attacking her without provocation (this just started tonight -- very odd),
and Carter has tried to kill her from day one. Only Xena will play with
her -- that's 1 out of 4, very poor odds. I've had to keep them separated,
separate cages, run times, etc.
Tonight we just decided to let Gabrielle and B'Elanna fight it out for a
bit, and poor B'Elanna hissed and screamed like I've never heard before.
There was flying poop and she wound up with numerous scratches (but no real
blood) and seems somewhat traumatized. She is very fiesty and hissy and
noisy anyway, but I've never heard any other ferret make sounds like she
did. I hesitate to do this again for fear she'll get hurt!
And as for Carter, he's suddenly became aggressive toward *all* the girls
since B'Elanna came into the house. I have to break it up occasionally now
between him and *all* the other females. I'm particularly worried about
his behavior toward B'Elanna, too, because he weighs close to 4 lbs and I'm
afraid he would really injure her if given the chance.
Is there any hope, or will I have to give B'Elanna away????? I will if
I must, but it will break my heart. (My SO is no help at all and didn't
want B'El from the start and is pressing me to give her up by saying
"See, they're not getting along anyway.") Please HELP!
