Feet digging: means you're as wonderful as dirt!  Or maybe they want you
to move over, quit hogging the covers, or get up.
 
ferretproofing beds: the only sure fire way I've found that keeps ferrets
out of the bed springs is to use 1/4" thick plywood to enclose the frame.
Be sure to cut the side pieces long enough to touch the wall at the head
of the bed.  You'll also have to cut a piece to put under the box springs
at the head of the bed (should also touch the wall.  This keeps them from
pooping where it's difficult to clean as well.  You can just put plywood
under the box springs.  Really determined ferrets witll eventually pull
most material coverings loose.
 
Night stalkers: Be sure to doublecheck your ferretproofing in the room
before going to bed every night.  (You'll sleep easier.) Night stalkers
should not have access to more than the room you're in.  Turn the air
conditioning cooler and wear sweats & heavy socks.  Ignore the bed sharks
as long as possible.  When you can't stand anymore, scruff, scold, & drag
them by the scruff, then put them down on the floor.  They want your
attention.  If biting you doesn't get your attention, they'll eventually
give up.  (Could take a couple of weeks, though.)
