I guess I will add a note to the group and let you know what I and my
ferrets have been up to.
I am a student at the University of Texas and only two years ago re-acquired
ferrets.  I had a pair of females many years ago--in the pre-gee-what-
vaccine-do-we-use? days.  My animals were given a distemper vaccine that
resulted in their contracting it.
Now that I have access to Fromm-D at cost and a plethora of vets that
specialize in ferret care, I decided to jump back in.   I got a male kit
2 1/2 years ago named Hobbes.  He has definitely been a character from
day one and remains the dominant in the group.  When Hobbes was six
months old I got a young female (approx. 5 mos.) from a family that purchased
her for Christmas because she was cute but was subsequently beaten up by
the family's six cats.  When I got her she was flea ridden and malnourished.
She is now a healthy 2 year old one pounder.  18 months ago, I got a
ferret which was basically unhandled for the first 8 months of his life.
For some reason, he is the most laid-back and biggest clown.  It's too
bad that this network doesn't support graphics or I would show you his
platypus impression!  I am in the process of writing an article for the
local paper as there seems to be an excess of unwanted ferrets in this
town (as demonstrated by the numbers of students selling ferrets at
graduation).
