Pseudoephedrine is the generic of Sudafed. Used a lot in cold and
allergy meds, mostly in combination with other drugs. Found in Cardec,
Rondec,Dimetapp, Pediacare, and Triaminic to name a few. It is a
stimulant properties like PPA.

Chlor-trimeton is chlorpheniramine maleate (antihistamine).

Phenylpropanolamine or PPA is the drug taken off the market because of
its link with strokes in adults- this drug is similar in function to
amphetamine, found in many cold meds.

The problem with the tons of over the counter cold meds is that you have to
read the ingredient lists, Benadryl is sold as Benadryl cold and allergy
with is different from plain Benadryl, same for other meds. I had a child
in the ER that took 3 chlortrimeton extended release tablets and it was an
overdose for her weight and age!

If it is not necessary, it is always best not to give medications for cold
like symptoms. The side effects may be worse than the symptoms the ferret
has in the first place.
