Cardboard boxes aren't suitable for transporting ferrets because they do
not allow a good air flow, can become very hot inside even with holes
punched in the side, can frighten the ferrets being closed up in a box and
they get wet from water or urine. The temp inside a cardboard box quickly
skyrockets even with ac on in a vehicle.
The ferrets from Utah are not in very good condition, I've been told, so
their transport has to go off with the tenderest care for each and every
one of them. Carriers/cages must be stacked in vehicles to get them all
to their destinations but they will be stacked in a way so that each and
every cage is accessible and ferrets will be checked along the way to make
sure no one is overheating or has wetted on their blankies, etc.
This is quite a delicate move and every precaution needs to be taken to
ensure the safety and well being of the little ones.
Hugs to all. tle
