You probably noticed that there are some wooden slats under the box spring
that the muslin is stapled to.  Well, hit your hardware store and get some
window screen and staple it over the whole bottom of the spring.  Use metal
screen instead of the fiberglass stuff that is so popular now.  You wont
have to worry about the fert getting into it anymore.
