Gina wrote me back privately, but I thought I would share... Shari
In a message dated 06/24/2001 9:49:10 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [Gina]
writes:
Gina: I chose the injections *over* the liquid pred to better help the
ferret. I would do it again with an older ferret. It's important to
knock the swelling down - hard and fast.
>My vet is saying 6 months to 1 year but it really depends on the ferret.
My pretty girl had 2 years after diagnosis. And, remeber the diagnosis of
insulinoma came 1.5 years later, after adrenal and lympho. It's important
to stay up with your vet to control the swelling. Whenever *you* think
Dallas is acting more sluggish - take her to the vet to advise on pred
dosage - if you or vet are not willing to try the injections.
Watch for signs of other/concurrent illnesses - insulinoma:

Ferret Insulinoma FAQ
Thank you for writing back. It took me a few days to write just b/c of
your name and the subject combined. I miss my ambassador of our ferret
club so much. Please consider the injection option (no reactions like
with vaxs). I would do it with a 6 yo, and currently I have a healthy
7 yo blind ferret and would do it, if needed.
With Gina's second cancer (lympho) email to the internet (FML, etc - do
an archives search), I got one of the best/memorable responses:
Don't bury her till she's dead. Keep up the fight for Dallas. I pray
for her and you. Love her like there is tomorrow. Do your best for her
financially and give her dignity...
