I wouldn't know why the people of a ferret wouldn't take a 13 year old
seriously.
 
I have a shelter (in Holland) and I can asure you not the age is a reason
to refuse someone to adopt a ferret but the way they handle them..  I
always take the time for that (half a day or even longer to find out what
kind of person the adoption-parent is).  Bye Carmen
