This is a first for me. I've had numerous insulinoma ferrets, but now I've
got one that's diabetic, and there's just not much information out there.
I'm trying to determine a safe calorie intake number and calorie
composition for this guy. He's 8 years old, weighs 2 pounds, 5 ounces.
He's usually fairly active twice a day, which means he snoops through-out
the house, a bounce or two and a few rolls with us to play. His daily
blood glucose levels seem to be leveling out now at an average of 145
(taken with a glucometer, so + or - 25). He's getting 2.5 units (diluted
10:1) humaline-n once daily. A week ago, his blood glucose was 487.
Blood & urine tests at the vet's confirmed diabetes.
Any suggestions, tips, or experience with this is welcome.
