It's just that there are about 3,000 people on the FML and the average
number of ferrets (given all the shelter operators and so on) is likely at
least 5 each, so that's AT LEAST 15,000 ferrets of all different ages.
They pack everything into fewer years, too. Here we tend to have ones who
were shelter rescues or came here due to medical problems, and we usually
have them reach sometime in the 7th or 8th years (a few older and a few
younger) but I know that there are always some darling 10 year olds
represented on list, too. This is also a place where people KNOW they
will get medical help and emotional support through such times, so people
feel free to ask. That said, DO expect that something is going to happen
at some point causing high vet bills and save accordingly.
