Hi all. I was contacted today by a woman named Lisa Acho from the Michigan
Humane Society. She told me that she checked with a supervisor and yes,
ferrets are legal in Detroit. Apparently, Animal Control had been giving
conflicting reports, so perhaps Mary (the original poster) was given
incorrect information by them. Animal Control said that ferrets are legal
but they don't personally adopt them out. All the info that Dee from the
GLFA gathered also said that ferrets are legal in Detroit. So, according
to the Humane Society and Detroit Animal Control, they are legal and
Detroit ferret owners can rest easy.
