Rachel--
The FDA issued their warning and plan for getting the drug out of OTC
medications on November 6. Since that time manufacturers have either
reformulated the drugs or stopped producing them entirely to remove the
drug component Phenylpropanolamine. I have a toddler and when I saw the
notice I found I had a bottle of the affected Triaminic. I have since
purchased a new bottle of the new formula. The concern you should have
now, I would think, is whether or not the new drug is safe and effective
for the ferret and what the proper dosage would be. I'd suggest checking
the labels of the new Triaminic or whatever products, noting the amounts
of each drug contained, and consulting your vet to find out if they are
appropriate and if so, how much you could use and under what circumstances.
Better to ask than guess!

FYI, anyone who is wondering about other drugs affected, I know there are
several Dimetapp formulas and the Robitussin CF formula involved. These
have also been pulled or reformulated. There is info on getting a refund
from the drug maker on their site if you care to search for it.
