Pardon the multiple posting, and pardon my delay. It has taken me this
long to come out of shock and gather my thoughts.
I can't describe my initial response to the announcement of Kista's
closing. Shock, despair, pain and sadness don't even scratch the surface.
I understand if Kim has personal reasons why this is a choice she needs to
make at this time in her life and I hope nobody condemns her or penalizes
her for this decision. Instead I thank and cheer Kim for all the years,
money, effort, tears and sacrifice she has given to the ferret world
through the work she has done. I can't fathom the amount of sadness and
despair that Kim has seen over the years and hope I never have to see the
number of ferrets in pain she as seen, I also hope I can continue my own
work with half the dignity and success she has shown us. I knew Kim only
as "another shelter operator online" until the "alleged Loving Ferrets
fiasco"... through reaching out to help with that, she and I became close
friends and I have cherished her friendship ever since.
To Kim, even though I know we will still, and always be friends, to have
to say goodbye to you as a peer in the shelter world has me in tears. You
have been one of my inspirations, role models, rocks and constant means
of support. Whether it was a cry for help with a medical problem or a
shoulder to cry on in sheer frustration, I knew you were always there for
me. I can honestly say I am not sure FURTulsa would still be in operation
if not for you.
I wish you nothing but success and happiness in your new life and you can
be proud of what you have accomplished. You made a true difference in
this world and never believe otherwise. I love you and am proud to call
you friend.
Susan
