Thank you, Jacqueline for bringing up the issue of BSE being spread to
ferrets. It also seems to me that it could be possible. I saw a TV show
on BSE that talked about how house cats in the UK were also affected by
their own form of the disease after having eaten contaminated food. Also
many other animals, farm and otherwise, have their own forms of BSE
disease. This is why for some time I have been feeding my wheezies a high
quality cat food called Innova which does not contain any suspect meat
sources. It is high enough in fat and protein also. (I wish my ferrets
would eat a raw meat diet like my cat but no matter how much ferretone I
put on it they won't even touch it.) Anyways, I think the practice of using
ruminant meat and bone meal in pet foods really needs to be discontinued.

On another subject... I am looking for a new place to call home since I am
being forced to move out of the place that has been my home for 4 years.
So if anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area has any (or knows of any) _pet
friendly_ housing available please email me. I am looking to rent a room
in a shared house in either SF, Berkeley, or Oakland for less than $700 a
month. If it is a collective or semi-collective household and has a place
to garden all the better but not absolutely required! Thank you all in
advance! By the way the email address I use to post on here is under a
pseudonym and safe.
