Hi everyone. You may know me as your everyday, run-of-the-mill ferret
owner (is there any such thing? We re all so...special!), but now I
can proudly add "Greater Chicago Ferret Association Board Member" to my
repertoire of ferrety affiliations. I also volunteer at the GCFA shelter
once a week.
With so much going on lately with the GCFA, I thought it only appropriate
to keep the FML updated on the happenings of one of the largest ferret
shelters in the world. Yes, we are one of the largest in the world, and
the only ferret shelter in the Chicagoland area. I invite each and every
one of you to visit our website,
http://www.gcfa.com, to learn more about us.
Today I'm here for several reasons. First, I need to ask a favor of other
clubs and shelters. We are looking for ways to spread the word about our
shelter in hopes of increasing our membership, our donations, and our
adoptions. If you have any techniques you ve found helpful with any and
all of the above, please email me. We at the GCFA can brainstorm and
speculate, but when it comes down to it we need shelters & clubs like you
to tell us what really works.
Second, I'd like to know how many GCFA members subscribe to the FML. Just
out of curiosity, really. So if you could quickly drop me a line and let
me know you're out there, that d be great.
Currently we have just under 100 ferrets in our shelter. We are at
capacity right now. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting
a ferret or perhaps fostering a special-needs ferret and you live in the
Chicagoland area, please give the shelter a call (708-442-8650) and make an
appointment with one of our adoption counselors. With almost 100 ferrets
to "chose from" we have a wide variety of ferrets! From under 1 year, to
well over 6 from single ferrets to groups of four - from healthy ferrets
to those needing special care. They are all in need of loving homes like
yours!
Thanks,
Amy McNamara
