It's absolutely pathetic that people would not go to a show because of the
requirements for ADV testing.
Perhaps you have tested in the past. But that doesn't mean that everyone
else has. It also doesn't mean that your results didn't change. It's also
very easy to "fake" test results, and regretfully this IS being done by
some individuals. That's pathetic and cowardly, as those doing it will
only harm the ferrets they claim to love so much.
Why do people fake results? Several reasons. Perhaps they have much
invested in a breeding operation that they do not want to lose. Perhaps
they don't want to lose their percieved standing in the ferret community.
Perhaps they have been claiming for so long that ADV is not a problem that
when they actually need to face the fact that it is a very real problem
that has hit home, they aren't able to admit they were wrong.
Why do results change? I can't answer that, but they do, particularly on
the older United test.
Testing at a show fulfiulls not only the ability to protect all the ferrets
attending, but it also protects YOUR ferret! Isn't your ferret worth a few
lousy dollars?
It's about time that show producers took a stand on this situation. If
there is nothing to hide, then there should be no reason to oppose the
testing. It will help safeguard your ferret. Thanks to the PFRA for
taking an honest stand. It's about time that somebody did.
