I have been reading all the posts on ferret food . I read in a Ferret
magazine about ferret food and cat food, while cat food is good in a pinch
ferret food is best for the ferrets. (quote) "Logically, because you are
feeding a ferret, you would think that ferret food would always be the
best choice to feed your little buddy. Thus, with the exception of a few
low-quality ferret foods on the market, offering ferret food is usually
your best bet. The protein, fat, vitamin and mineral ratios are balanced
for a ferret's metabolism. Maney cat and kitten foods do not meet these
needs. They need a protein level of 36 percent and a fat level of 22
percent."

There are certain Starches (also called soluble carbohydrates) that ferret
can't digest. There are other things such as corn which is used as binders
in forms of whole corn, kibbled corn, ground corn and corn gluten meal have
been known to cause digestive disorders and allergic reactions. The best
binder is rice.Vitamins and Minerals are also inportant for our little
fuzzybutts. I don't mean to step on anyones toes, but don't they deserve
the best! Like I said my information came out of a ferret magazine.
