Hi,
I'm a fairly new subscriber to the list, and owned by one very small
female light sable (named, appropriately... MostEvil). I've had her now
for almost 2 years, and can't imagine life without a ferret in the house!
We also have one dog, 4 cats, and 2 goldfish.... but I would really REALLY
like to get another ferret to add to the mix, and to give MostEvil someone
to play with.
My question is, what's the best way to introduce a new ferret? Forgive me
if this has been covered before in the list, and respond to me privately if
you prefer. My baby was purchased at a pet store in 8/99 and we were told
at that time that she was approx 8 weeks old. She's lived with us (and the
rest of the zoo) since then, but hasn't had any contact with another ferret
since her pet store days. I can't help thinking that she would have great
fun with a friend..... on the other hand, she is VERY spoiled and I don't
want to upset her. Things I'm wondering about include (but aren't limited
to) sharing a cage or having seperate cages? Our ferret currently has a
lot of free roam time during the day, but we prefer to have her in her cage
at night (something about those bitten toes.... oops, that wasn't a toe!) .
Sharing toys? Sharing Mom's attention (I did say she was very spoiled LOL)
Thanks in advance for any tips/tricks/techniques you can give me... I'm
interested in getting our next ferret from a shelter, so if age is relative
to mixing in, I'd like to know that also.
Vanessa
