JUST ONE MORE
A POEM INSPIRED BY AN ANONYMOUS POST TO THE FML
The shelter people do inspire,
Some folks to help ferrets,
With straits so dire.
No matter sacrifice,
No matter toil,
With hearts they reach out,
And those fuzzies they ll spoil!
I thought sensibly, I thought for sure.
But then I thought What s just one more?
And when their little energies soar.
They were called destructive,
Not wanted any more.
So, I took in just 3 more.
If this babe could speak,
Do you think he would tell?
Or continue to live in his silent hell.
Just one more, I knew I could,
This mean boy is deaf
He s just misunderstood.
One more fuzzy whose home was lost.
I ll take him in, no matter the cost.
For with me he will live very well,
At Rainbow Bridge, fond stories he ll tell.
One more woozle that needed a chance,
To play and love, to snuggle and dance,
You ll want for nothing that s for sure,
Because you ve become my just one more.
These furry little refugees.
Have many personalities.
They need to be understood
If they re to find a home for good.
As I watch them peacefully sleep,
Something inside me stirs so deep.
I d have been the loser for sure.
Had I not taken.. just one more
Without them I would never know,
How much love these babies show.
It won t be long, of this I m sure,
My heart will open for just one more.
