Warm hugs to those who have experienced recent losses, fuzzy or hooman.

I have found Dr. Williams posts to be rather informative and appreciate him
taking the time out of his hectic schedule to post. However, those of you
who have emergencies or serious health concerns should NOT be relying on
information from afar. What I am saying is that no vet can accurately
diagnose a ferret's problem via email or phone - sight unseen. This is NOT
information to rely on. Again, Dr. Williams knows his stuff BUT cannot
possibly diagnose without examination. Any vet who claims to be able to
do this is simply wrong. One can "guess" based on symptoms but cannot
be positive. Human doctors don't abide by this, either. I do hope he
continues to post, because it does educate all of us about illnesses.

Therefore, I do not feel that exceeding the three post limit should be
allowed for one person, unless you are going to allow it for ALL FML
posters. That is like telling people that because they are not a vet,
their information and questions are not as important. The FML should
NEVER be used for emergencies - take your ferret to the vet, PLEASE.

Let me state again for all of you that are getting ready to send me flames,
I AM NOT STATING THAT DR. WILLIAMS POSTS ARE NOT HELPFUL, but I AM STATING
that they should NOT take the place of a physical examination. If BIG
could hold off on the posts beyond three, I think that is only fair.
EMERGENCIES should be handled by taking your ferret to the vet, NOT waiting
for Dr. Williams responses. I think there are some lists out there that
deal with veterinary questions (not positive on this) but that would also
be a helpful place to go and learn if your are not satisfied with the
three-post limit or perhaps sending a private email about your concerns
would be of value? Just a suggestion.

I am donning my flame-proof undies. :0)
