Liz, Here is something that may make Fang more comfy: a panty hose sling.
Chose the size of pantyhose according to your height/leg length to prevent
annoying your back.  Lay the feet on top of each other and sew these
together to form a hammock.  Then roll down the panty part and that will
be a handle when you sew it.  Place under abdomen, lift slightly to ease
burden on hind legs, and take for walks, to litter pot, etc.  Impossible
to do all of the time,of course, but it sure can give joy to ease the
strain on the rear legs.

For Kouri's catapult, of course.  Why do you think he has that wood-working
