Hooray! Sully has been pronounced to be in very good health and
blockage-free.
I want to thank all of you who emailed me about the urgency of getting her
to the vet right away. I understand now that it may well have saved her
life had there been a blockage, and certainly took no offense to the strong
tones used to convey this message.
I convinced a friend to get her to the vet, who said she was in great
health. I found him through a variety of phone calls looking for a
ferret-specialist and from all reports, he sounds fabulous. He sent
my friend home with some literature about geriatric ferrets (although
admitting my 4-year-olds are geriatric makes me pout) and seemed to really
know his stuff. What's more, there was a "ferret crossing" sign in the
office, which seems like a pretty fantastic sign to me. To top it all off,
his name is Dr. Gandolfi. (shockingly, my friends and i have stuck to
simply "Gandolf"). If anyone's looking for a ferret vet in the Bay Area,
email me at [log in to unmask] and I'll give you all his info.
Happily reporting lots o' poops in the litterbox,
-Renee,
Frett (jeez what does a ferret have to do to get attention around here),
and Sully (how i love to be fussed over)
