Hello, I would like to share what I know about angora ferrets. This summer
my friend Sylvia Leder was visiting me from the Netherlands. For those
who don't know her she is the founder of the ferret club over in the
Netherlands. I ask her if she would like to see a video tape of my friends
angora ferrets. Well 2 minutes into the video she became VERY angry. This
is what she shared: She was heartbroken that Denmark (the fur capital of
the world) has taken something as healthy and wonderful as the ferret and
inbred it to produce the angora. She came up with greed as the cause of
this and I too agree. I explained to her the angoras on the video were no
longer living, they died before age 2!! Cost per angora 2000.00. All of
this is crazy!! It is NOT fair to the ferret to NOT be bred to be strong
and live MANY good years!! The breeders DO know what they are doing!!!
To Joanne: I hope angoras out there live more then 2 years!!! I am glad
you cared enough to learn more. Someone mentioned starting a Angora
club....now that is a great idea, people need to share what is happening
with there angoras.
To Kathy: sorry to say that what has been done to cat and dog world
concerning breeding HAS entered into the ferret world, inbreeding is
something I frown on in animals and humans!
To Tammy: your post was well said on inbreeding, this for sure does NOT
need to be going on in the ferret world. To me this is cruel!!!!!! I
hope this is an eye opener to some.
BIG, thank you for allowing me to join the fml. Your the best!! I will be
signing off so please remove me from the list. No hard feelings, just time
to sign off.
Debbie Scott, Louie, Mia and rest of the gang of fuzzies.
